Dispatch, May 2027: the month opens on a Saturday and never quite stops. Thirty-one days run the month's course, with five Saturdays, five Sundays and five Mondays, which makes 10 weekend days, the most in the quarter. The shape of the month

The middle Saturday belongs to Eurovision in Burgas, Bulgaria: semi-finals Tuesday, May 11 and Thursday, May 13, grand final Saturday, May 15. In a five-Saturday month, the final lands on the center Saturday exactly.
The crowded last fortnight
The PGA Championship runs Monday, May 17 to Sunday, May 23 at PGA Frisco in Texas, the major's first visit to its new home. Formula 1 takes Montreal the same weekend, May 21 to 23, round 7 of 24. Roland-Garros opens its main draw on Sunday, May 23 and runs into June. Star Wars: Starfighter reaches theaters Friday, May 28.
Sunday, May 30 stacks the 111th Indianapolis 500 on top of all ten Premier League final-day matches, which kick off simultaneously. The month closes on Monday, May 31, a date both the United States and Britain stretch into a long weekend. Book early; so does everyone else.
