November 2025 Calendar: Ten Weekend Days and the Beaver Moon
November 2025 began on a Saturday and ended on a Sunday, wrapping 30 days in ten weekend days. Only 20 business days survived, tying February for the slimmest working count of the year. The full Beaver Moon on November 5 was 2025's closest supermoon, the biggest and brightest full moon of the year. A month built for time off spent most of it breaking records instead.
The shape of November 2025
Opening on Saturday, November 1 gave the month five Saturdays and five Sundays, with four of each other weekday. The ten weekend days rolled across weeks 44 to 48. The business count fell to 20 days, the year's joint low with February.
A month that begins on a Saturday is not pretending to be a workmonth. Even the 13th behaved this year, arriving on a quiet Thursday and sparing everyone the drama.
The closest moon of the year
The Beaver Moon on November 5 closed a run of three straight supermoons that began September 7. It was the closest and largest of them all, 2025's biggest and brightest full moon. The last quarter followed on November 12, the new moon on November 20 and the first quarter on November 28. The month's final week filled back up with light.
A Game 7, a long shutdown and two summits
The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series on November 1, edging the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 in Game 7. Washington reopened on November 12, when President Trump signed a funding bill ending the record 43-day shutdown. The money ran only to January 30, 2026. It was the longest shutdown in US history.
The month's gravest news came early and from the sea. Typhoon Kalmaegi brought the worst flooding in decades to the central Philippines from November 3. It killed more than 200 people around Cebu before striking Vietnam.
On November 17, a makeshift bridge collapsed at a copper mine in Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. At least 32 people died.
The G20 met in Johannesburg on November 22, the first summit on African soil. A US president was absent for the first time. A day earlier, COP30 had wrapped in Belem, the first UN climate summit held in the Amazon. Its compromise Mutirao pact kept the 1.5 C goal alive.
The biggest movie month of the year
Cinemas did the extraordinary. Wicked: For Good, the sequel to the Broadway musical blockbuster, opened November 21 with about $147 million in North America. It was the biggest debut ever for a stage-musical adaptation.
Zootopia 2 followed on November 26 with a $156 million five-day debut and $555 million worldwide. That made it the fourth-biggest global opening in film history.
The November 26 to 30 frame grossed about $294 million in US cinemas. It was one of the biggest movie weekends on record. Netflix loaded the same days.
The final season of Stranger Things arrived November 26, with the series finale set for December 31. The couch and the multiplex split the month between them.
Twenty business days and the year's biggest moon: November 2025 cut the working hours and raised the wattage.
