November 2027 Calendar: Five Mondays, Two Finals
Dispatch, Wednesday, November 24: Frozen III opens in United States theaters tonight. It takes the Wednesday slot Disney marked for it years ago. The Moon overhead wanes from full, filled on Sunday, November 14, toward the dark of the 28th. The month began on a Monday and ends on a Tuesday. Thirty days, five Mondays, five Tuesdays and two World Cups settled nine days apart. Our correspondent has checked the grid twice and stands by it.
Mondays in charge
November 2027 spans weeks 44 to 48, with 22 business days and eight weekend days. Mondays fall on November 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29; Tuesdays on the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th. Sundays number four: the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th. The last day, Tuesday the 30th, hands a Wednesday straight to December, the half's fullest work month.
The Moon keeps mostly to Sundays: full on the 14th, last quarter on the 21st, new on the 28th. First quarter came first, on Saturday the 6th. November 13 is a Saturday, for the record, not the other thing.
Nine days, three trophies
The New York City Marathon ran on Sunday, November 7. Some 50,000 runners crossed the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, with North America's clocks falling back the same morning. The clocks give the continent one extra hour before the starting gun. Rooms near the bridge went early; marathon weekend is a year-ahead booking exercise now.
Sydney held the rugby endgame whole: semi-finals on November 5 and 6, the bronze final on November 12. The World Cup final itself ran at Accor Stadium on Saturday, November 13. Turin's Nitto ATP Finals ran from Sunday, November 14 to Sunday, November 21. Johannesburg crowned the Cricket World Cup winner at the Wanderers on Sunday, November 21. Three trophies, nine days, three time zones.
The finals kept shifting to streaming apps, rights limits and all. Second screens did the work of a season ticket. Frozen III takes the last Wednesday, and the month's final week belongs to cinemas and dark skies. The Moon's Sunday habit helps: full light for the tennis opening on the 14th, dark skies by the 28th.
The dark run begins
The new moon of Sunday, November 28 opens the darkest four-week stretch down to the December solstice. Evenings close early in the north; the south leans toward summer. Use the fifth Monday, November 29, for planning rather than deadlines; it is the month's gift to its successor. December brings 23 business days, the fullest work month of the half, and it deserves a head start. The last Monday of November is the cheapest insurance against it.
November ends in the dark of the Moon and hands December a running start: the tidiest handover of the year.
