July 2025 Calendar: Five Tuesdays, Two Champions
July 2025 saved its biggest finish for the final Sunday. On July 27, Tadej Pogacar sealed his fourth Tour de France on the Champs-Elysees, winning by more than four minutes. Hours later in Basel, England's Lionesses retained their Women's Euro title, beating Spain 3-1 on penalties after extra time. The month around that Sunday ran 31 days from a Tuesday start and finished on a Thursday.
The shape of July 2025
July opened on Tuesday, July 1 and gave the midweek days the run of the house. Five Tuesdays, five Wednesdays and five Thursdays led the count, against four of every other weekday. Weekends stayed scarce, with four Saturdays and four Sundays adding up to eight weekend days. The month sat across weeks 27 to 31.
That layout left 23 business days on the working count. Weekend planners got four Fridays and four Saturdays, so any long break had to be assembled by hand.
Moon phases and a visitor from deep space
First quarter fell on July 2 and the full buck moon on July 10. Last quarter came July 18, and a new moon on July 24. The final week darkened steadily toward it, decent news for stargazers.
The bigger sky story landed on July 2. Astronomers confirmed 3I/ATLAS, only the third known interstellar object recorded passing through the solar system. The ATLAS survey telescope in Chile spotted it. Not every month gets a visitor from another star system and a double champions' Sunday, and July 2025 managed both.
What else the month carried
The month also carried hard news. Flash floods tore through Texas Hill Country around July 4, killing more than 135 people. Among them were girls and counselors at a summer camp on the Guadalupe River.
The flooding stretched from July 4 to July 6. It became the deadliest flood night of the year in the United States.
Black Sabbath played a final farewell concert at Birmingham's Villa Park on July 5. Ozzy Osbourne, heavy metal's most famous voice, fronted the original lineup, with metal's biggest names joining for a charity fundraiser. He died on July 22 at 76, weeks after the last show.
The sport ran deep even before the final Sunday. Jannik Sinner beat Carlos Alcaraz on July 13 for his first Wimbledon title. He became the first Italian to win the men's singles. Scottie Scheffler took The Open at Royal Portrush by four shots for his fourth major.
Jurassic World Rebirth opened July 2 and made roughly $318 million worldwide in five days. It was the biggest debut of the year to that point. The Fantastic Four: First Steps followed on July 25 with about $118 million domestic. Alex Warren's “Ordinary” was on its way to 10 weeks atop the Hot 100.
Print it for the five Tuesdays and keep it for the record: July 2025 delivered twice on its final Sunday.
